The Garden Room at Barewood is a peaceful and private sanctuary offering spacious and elegant accommodation and a truly unique expereince. Enjoy exclusive use of the front wing of our century old homestead, set within 4 acres of mature heritage garden.

Entering through the front door, you are welcomed into an elegant and characterful space. Off the hallway, your bedroom houses a generous super king four poster bed, with tall sash windows that look out into a green oasis. Across the hallway is a peaceful lounge room, with floor to ceiling doors opening out on to the wrap around veranda. Decorated with beautiful objects, antiques, paintings and books, games and home comforts, we hope you will feel this is your home from home. A tranquil space to relax and reflect on your adventures around New Zealand. Enjoy reading on the veranda, strolling around the 4 acre garden, or simply enjoy an afternoon nap to the sound of birdsong. There is writing and drawing apparatus should you feel inspired to put pen to paper, or the desire to send a postcard to a loved one back home. During your stay, you will have exclusive use of your accommodation amenities and are welcome to enjoy all the garden has to offer. This is your sanctuary.
 

To honor the spirit of Barewood, there is no television, but we do have wifi from 6am - 10pm.

Please note that your bathroom is accessed via a covered veranda. Stroll out of the front door, and following the veranda around to the right, you will discover a private bathroom for your personal use. Enjoy a hot shower or run a bath to relax in after a busy day out discovering Marlborough. Should you need to use the bathroom in the night, there are lights along the veranda as well as a portable lantern for your use. Your bathroom is a 15 second walk from your bedroom.

Breakfast

Breakfast is included in your stay, and will be served at 9 each morning on the veranda unless otherwise organised. We are more than happy to accommodate you with timings should you need or prefer a different time. This will include freshly baked goods and home made preserves, fresh fruit, local yoghurt and home made granola. We will always ensure you are well supplied with local teas and coffee, some local wine and some treats to enjoy at your leisure throughout your stay. Throughout the seasons we have different produce from the estate that you are welcome to pick and enjoy as well.

Evening Meal

The Garden Room does not have any cooking facilities, but who really wants to cook for themselves on holiday anyway. For an additional cost we can cater an evening meal for our guests. Our evening meals are home cooked country fare, made using local ingredients. Our offering changes with what is available in the garden and locally but it will always be fulfilling and fresh, and served with a glass or two of something chilled, and to your taste.

On your first night, we recommend that our guests have dinner here so you can relax into your stay, but this is of course up to you as you may have alternate plans. We can serve a light supper made with local ingredients out on the veranda, or in the lounge if you would prefer to be inside. You are welcome to have every evening meal here at Barewood during your stay, just let us know your requirements in advance of your arrival, and we will sort everything out.
